To ensure that every beryllium copper plunger tip meets stringent quality standards,
Semco controls every step in the manufacturing process from its plant in Marion, Ohio.
Beginning in its own beryllium copper foundry, both the BE-10S and BE-20 alloys are
melted in electric induction furnaces that carefully control metal casting temperatures to
ensure the highest integity cast tips. Semco is one of the few plunger tip suppliers
operating its own beryllium copper foundry.
The tips are then precision machined in Semco's own advanced machine shop featuring
state of the art equipment. These processes are numerically controlled for accuracy and
ensured repeatability.
Perhaps the most important quality assurance is the material content of the plunger
tip. To ensure the material content is to specification, each heat of Semco's alloys is
analyzed in our own laboratory.
